Mission Seniors Activity Centre

TEMPORARY CLOSURE NOTICE

COVID-19 has now been with us for over 100 days. Under the leadership of Dr. Bonnie
Henry, British Columbia is now beginning a phased in process to resume social, recreation and economic activities with appropriate safety protocols.

As you are aware, the Seniors Activity Centre has been used by the Division of Family
Practice and Fraser Health as a COVID-19 Assessment Centre and will be returned for
use by the Mission Seniors Centre Association at the end of July. We will require time
during August to do a number of maintenance, cleaning and organizational tasks before
we can resume operations.

The MSCA Board met on Thursday, June 18th to institute a process which will allow re-
opening for September 1st. There will be a number of safety protocols we will have to put
in place as we determine how programs can be provided in the safest possible
environment. We will work with the District of Mission, the Division of Family Practice,
and Fraser Health to ensure that our opening is done in such a way that all safety
protocols are in place and are appropriate for the situation that will exist in September and
beyond. A committee has been appointed to provide specific recommendations to the
Board with respect to requirements we will have to meet for that re-opening.

The Board will be meeting over the summer to guide the process for re-opening and we
will advise you as we progress.

With respect to other news, the new Seniors Centre under construction is on schedule and
completion is anticipated around the end of April, 2021. The Board is also engaged in
planning processes for an eventual relocation from the current Centre to the new facility.

In the meantime, we would urge members to maintain a policy of physical distancing,
engage in frequent hand washing, and keep abreast of news from local, provincial and federal authorities as to updates. We would also ask that members keep in touch with friends, relatives and neighbours to minimize any sense of isolation and ensure the well-being of those for whom you care.

We look forward to the day when we can again get together and resume our programs and
social activities. On behalf of your Board of Directors, please be safe, be calm and be
aware. Best wishes to all for the summer season.
